The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration About Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
