Followers Urge Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the actress are demanding that a individual who leaped a barricade and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared footage shows the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account contains clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last year.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user wrote.
Fans Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
Some attendees also criticised event staff at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of fans had assembled in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including a number who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The movie, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part version of the popular Broadway and West End show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, winning two for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
